Summary:

The Fire Systems Inspection entry level position that is responsible for assisting with performing routine inspections, service and maintenance of fire sprinkler/standpipe systems, fire alarm systems, and related equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Arrive at customers location ready to work at the scheduled time.

• Interface with customers to explain work to be performed, address any questions or concerns in a knowledgeable and respectful manner.

• Use iPad software to close out jobs and inspections (i.e. Accurately complete digital inspection forms, material entry, time recording).

• Assist with perform routine inspection, service and maintenance of fire sprinkler/standpipe systems and related equipment.

• Perform flow tests, fire pump tests, hydrostatic tests, main drain tests, trip test dry valves, and test hydrants.

• Inspect, test, and service alarm systems, clean agent and CO2 systems, access control systems and other related equipment.

• Test backup batteries, keypad programming, sirens, etc., to ensure proper functioning and to diagnose malfunctions.

• Become familiar with and learn NFPA 25 and to troubleshoot wet systems, dry systems, pre-action systems and fire pumps.

• Resolve and/or troubleshoot problems in a timely and efficient manner.

• Provide accurate and complete information on reports and quotes.

• Other duties as assigned.

Experience and Skills:

• Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent

• Required: Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record

• Advanced Technical School Training a plus

• Ability to work independently with limited supervision

• Demonstrate integrity, honesty

• Mechanical skills and aptitude

• Proficient in basic computer skills

• Demonstrate problem-solving skills

• Strong communication skills (written and verbal). Able to interact with all levels being served

• Represent the company in a professional, credible manner in speech, written communications and appearance

Physical Demands:

• Regular and Timely Attendance

• Work is mostly performed in an outdoor setting with some tasks in an office environment.

• Hand-eye Coordination is necessary to operate computers and various pieces of office equipment.

• Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms.

• Frequently required to stand and talk or hear, walk, sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and smell.

• Must be able to climb ladders and work heights.

• Occasionally lift up to one hundred (100) pounds.

• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

• Must pass initial and random substance abuse tests

Work Environment:

• Normally works in outside weather conditions, near moving mechanical parts, and in high, precarious places.

• Exposure to wet and humid conditions, airborne particles and confined spaces.
